Edit Studio

The Edit Studio lets you refine your generated music with precision editing tools.

Opening Edit Studio

From any notation, click the Edit button (pencil icon) to enter the Edit Studio. This opens the notation on its own page at /m/{id}.

The Interface

The Edit Studio has three main areas:

  1. Notation Display - Your sheet music, rendered and interactive
  2. Controls Sidebar - Editing tools on the right side
  3. ABC Editor (optional) - Direct notation code editing

Editing Tools

Transpose

Change the key of your music:

  1. Find Key in the sidebar
  2. Use the dropdown to select a new key
  3. The notation updates immediately

You can also transpose by octave:

  • Click -8va to shift down an octave

Click-to-Edit Notes

Click directly on notes to modify them:

  1. Click a note head in the notation
  2. A popup appears with options:
    • Move pitch up
    • Move pitch down
    • ♯ ♭ ♮ Change accidental
  3. Changes apply immediately

ABC Code Editor

For advanced editing, toggle the ABC editor:

  1. Click Show ABC in the sidebar
  2. Edit the ABC notation code directly
  3. Click Save to apply changes

This is useful for:

  • Adding articulations
  • Fixing specific notes
  • Adding lyrics or annotations
  • Fine-tuning details

Version History (Pro Plus)

Pro Plus subscribers can access version history:

  1. Click the History icon in the sidebar
  2. Browse previous versions with timestamps
  3. Click to preview any version
  4. Click Restore to revert to that version

This is helpful when you want to undo changes or compare different versions.

Auto-Save

Your edits are saved automatically. The title bar shows:

  • Saving... while saving
  • Saved when complete
  • Last saved timestamp

Tips

  • Use Transpose for quick key changes rather than editing every note
  • The click-to-edit feature is best for small adjustments
  • For major rewrites, ask the AI in the chat instead
  • Changes are non-destructive - use version history to recover previous states
