Choose a difficulty level to get music appropriate for your skill level.

How to Set Difficulty

Before sending your message, click one of the difficulty options above the chat input:

  • Beginner
  • Intermediate
  • Advanced

If you don't select one, the AI will generate at a moderate difficulty.

What Each Level Means

Beginner

Music designed for new players just starting out.

Characteristics:

  • Simple rhythms (whole notes, half notes, quarter notes)
  • Limited range (comfortable hand position)
  • Mostly white keys / natural notes
  • 4/4 time signature
  • Slower tempos
  • No complex accidentals

Good for: First-year students, self-taught beginners, casual players

Intermediate

Music for developing musicians with some experience.

Characteristics:

  • Eighth notes and some syncopation
  • Moderate range expansion
  • Some accidentals (sharps, flats)
  • Varied time signatures possible
  • Moderate tempos
  • Basic articulations

Good for: Students with 1-3 years experience, returning players

Advanced

Music that challenges skilled players.

Characteristics:

  • Sixteenth notes, triplets, complex rhythms
  • Full instrument range utilized
  • Chromaticism and key changes
  • Any time signature
  • Fast tempos possible
  • Complex articulations and dynamics

Good for: Experienced musicians, performance-level players

Examples by Level

Piano - "Happy melody in C major"

Beginner version:

  • Right hand only
  • Quarter and half notes
  • C to G range
  • 60 BPM

Intermediate version:

  • Both hands with simple accompaniment
  • Eighth notes with some syncopation
  • Wider range
  • 90 BPM

Advanced version:

  • Full two-hand arrangement
  • Running sixteenths, arpeggios
  • Full keyboard range
  • 120+ BPM

Tips

  • Start with Beginner if you're unsure - you can always ask for something harder
  • Intermediate is the best default for most recreational players
  • Use Advanced when you want to be challenged or need performance material
