Let's create a complete piece of music step by step.

What We'll Create​

A simple, cheerful piano melody suitable for beginners - something you could actually play!

Step 1: Start a New Chat​

  1. Go to noteshift.ai/c (or click "New Music" in the sidebar)
  2. You'll see an empty chat ready for your input

Step 2: Set Your Preferences​

Before typing, consider the optional settings above the input:

  • Difficulty: Select "Beginner" for simpler music
  • Accompaniment: Check this if you want chord symbols

For this tutorial, select Beginner and leave Accompaniment unchecked.

Step 3: Describe Your Music​

Type a description like:

"A happy, upbeat piano melody in C major, 8 bars long"

Then press Enter.

Step 4: Review the Result​

The AI generates your music and displays it in the notation panel. You'll see:

  • The sheet music rendered on a staff
  • A play button to hear it
  • The title at the top

Step 5: Play It Back​

Click the Play button to hear your creation. The notes highlight in red as they play, so you can follow along.

Use the slider to:

  • Jump to any position
  • Adjust playback speed (if available)

Step 6: Make It Your Own​

Want to change something? You have two options:

Option A: Ask the AI​

Type a follow-up message:

"Make it a bit slower and add some rests"

Option B: Edit Directly​

Click Edit to open the Edit Studio where you can:

  • Transpose to a different key
  • Click notes to change their pitch
  • Modify the ABC notation directly

Step 7: Save and Export​

Happy with your creation?

  • Favorite it (heart icon) to save to your collection
  • Export PDF to download sheet music
  • Share to get a public link

You Did It!​

You've just created your first piece of AI-generated sheet music. As you get comfortable, try:

  • Different instruments
  • Various styles (jazz, classical, pop)
  • More complex requests
